Caroline
30 10 2010Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Caroline (18 months of age). She was and possibly still is, quite afraid of me. I consider myself good with children, therefore it came to me as a shock when she didn’t respond to my typical methods. It was difficult to interact with a child that was quite shy. That being said, I am always up for a good challenge 🙂
I shot using a Profoto Acute B with medium softbox camera left. Lens: 100mm f/2.8 Macro IS L

Self Portrait
11 10 2010Up to this point, my blog has focused on only one of the many paths my photography leads me. Time to shake things up a bit. You the reader, will learn who I am. What better way to show you than through a self portrait.
I started to use digital tools almost exclusively November 2009 with the arrival of my 5D Mark II. I am almost ashamed to say it, but my film cameras spent less and less time on set. It has almost been a year since and I yearn for the challenge of film. The time to shoot film is now! I really miss the way a hassleblad feels in your hands and the way the image on the ground glass oozes with three dimensionality.
I shot this in Laguna Beach last weekend with the help of my fellow photo nerd Mia. I lit myself with a Profoto AcuteB modified with a medium sized rectangular softbox. The reflections in my glasses are of a silk above the camera with dappled sunlight from the trees.
I was in O’neil Park on day one of the shoot. The ambient light was fleeing the scene. I snagged some shots with what light I had. This shot was also lit with a Profoto Acute B modified with a medium rectangular soft box. Shot on Hassleblad with a 40mm lens.

Living Quarters
29 06 2010I can’t help myself when I come up on a building in a state of decay. The essence of a location can be understood through its decor. (For instance, the soiled ground, some rusty nails, and a few tattered garments). All that remain of the “good life” is a heap of splintered support structures and hole ridden walls.

Easy Living
21 06 2010Here are a few more images from an ongoing project titled “Easy Living”. The body of work spans from 2008-present.
A dining area within a custom property. For Sale. 2009.
Circuit City. 2008. (Where, regrettably, I once purchased a lavish television).

Orange County Residence
20 06 2010School has been out for a little under a month. I am getting anxious already. With this new found freedom comes great responsibility to be self motivated. Lucky for me, I must shoot pictures often in order to stay sane. I’m juggling a few projects at the moment, but this blog update will share just one. The never-ending process of building and improving my Architectural portfolio. Here are a few new additions:
This is the First Architectural Exterior I have shot without a whole team of photographers. I enlisted the help of my very good friends and quite respectable photographers themselves, Albert Yoon and Nafiseh Assadian.
I will go into further details of this shot in the next blog update.
This is the master bathroom from the property in the first photo. This was shot with minimal production.
I shot this Bathroom for a private owner who invested in the property in order to renovate and ultimately sell the unit.

Central Park West
28 04 2010Special Thanks to Damian Tsutsumida and Lennar for offering us this location to shoot. I had a blast and learned a few tricks. A real joy to photograph such a beautiful structure.
